Ecotourism Baja California

— From the Field Since 1989

Since 1989, the team at Baja Spirit Ecolodges & Tours has guided over 5,000 guests through one of the planet’s last great wilderness coastlines — the Sea of Cortez, which Jacques Cousteau called "the Aquarium of the World."

This blog covers what we know from 35+ years in the field: whale shark behavior in the Midriff Islands, gray whale encounters in Scammon's Lagoon, seasonal wildlife patterns in the Sea of Cortez, responsible ecotourism in Baja California, and everything you need to plan a trip to Las Animas Wilderness Ecolodge. Written by our founder, naturalist guides, and field biologists — not a marketing department.

Our lodge sits 14 miles from Bahía de los Ángeles in a UNESCO World Heritage Site, accessible only by boat. What we write here, we've lived.
